Ookushi-Kaizuka (shell mounds) – Fureai park

At the park, you are able to experience the culture and life of the ancient times.For instance, there are Jyomon-Hiroba (a space) and an officially designated historical site, Ookushi-Kaizuka (shell mounds).Besides, the Jyomon-Kurashi-no-Shikikan is introducing how the life of the Jyomon period was.There are a couple of restored houses of the Jyomon period, the Yayoi period and Kofun period.
Inside the standing statue of a legendary giant of a man, Daidarabo. It is said that his height is 15 meters and 25 centimeters which is taller than The Great Buddha of Nara. Inside the Daidarabo, People are allowed to climb up until the flat of his hand where you have a great view.

Take the bus from No. 3 at the North exit of Mito Station toward Nakaminato station / Aqua world Ooarai until Tsunezumi chosya mae. You will need to walk more about 10min afterward.

The center close on every Mondays. (If Monday falls on the National holiday, then following day will be closed, instead.) and Dec 29 – Jan. 3.
